Who is safeguarding the people who spend their lives safeguarding others?
Religious sisters, priests, staff, volunteers, teachers, healthcare workers, children, young people and vulnerable adults all deserve to live, work and worship in environments where safety, dignity, respect and wellbeing are protected.
Safeguarding is more than having policies on paper. It is about creating a culture where people feel safe, heard, respected and valued.
A safe and healthy workforce is essential for an efficient and productive organisation. When staff are protected and supported, they can serve others better

Are our communities truly safe?
Are our sisters and staff adequately protected?
Do our structures promote wellbeing or create unnecessary stress?
Can people speak up when something is wrong?
Are we preventing harm—or only responding after harm has occurred?
SAFEGUARDING IS NOT JUST A POLICY.
It is a culture.
It is a daily commitment.
It is respect for human dignity.
It is care for one another.
Whether we are serving in a convent, parish, school, hospital, office or mission community, let us work together to create environments where people can serve happily, live healthily and fulfill their mission with joy.
SAFE PEOPLE. SAFE COMMUNITIES. SAFE INSTITUTIONS.
It is indeed a culture. For us to have a safe communities and workplace, we need to know how to protect ourselves and others too.
