Safeguarding means protecting myself, children, young people, and vulnerable adults from sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, neglect, and all other forms of harm.
Core Lessons:
- Shared Accountability: Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. When you see something, say something.
- Safe Recruitment: Participate in creating a safe environment right from the recruitment and training stages for new staff.
- Safe Communication: Practice calm responses and cultivate the habit of listening more than speaking.
- Prompt Reporting: Report all safeguarding concerns to the designated focal person rather than keeping them to yourself.
- Self-Care: Take care of yourself first—you are the most valuable asset of the Innocentian Sisters’ congregation.
- Information Management: Share sensitive information strictly on a need-to-know basis and at the appropriate time.
